The restaurant is owned by Colin and Joan Felgate, both locals born and bred. With the help of their daughter and son they opened The Olive Garden in May 2011 and have since built up a reputation locally as the place to go for authentic, hearty Italian and Mediterranean cooking, and as an independent, family run restaurant, we are very proud of how we have done!
As a family, we have worked together running restaurants since 2008 and enjoy (almost) every second of it! However we wouldn't be where we are without having an exceptional kitchen and front of house team.
Children are welcome any time in The Olive Garden, and as parents ourselves, we believe that it is important to make families feel welcome! We offer half portions for the smaller appetite, and as everything is cooked fresh to order, we can always tailor it to your child's taste.
High chairs are available for little ones, along with paper and crayon to keep them entertained. We even have some chunky learn and play toys for the more enthusiastic tot!
Where our food comes from...
We believe in being accountable when it comes to where our food comes from, and will never compromise on using the best ingredients available to us. We are proud to use local ingredients wherever possible, and support local wholesalers and producers:
We are the only restaurant to serve our burgers and meatballs as they are made to our own recipe specifically for us by a master butcher, using Argyll Hill Lamb and 100% Scottish Beef and Haggis.
Our Langoustines come from Gordon Lamb, a local creel fisherman who lands his catch just outside of Oban and delivers them within hours of being landed, and our mussels come from the Isle of Mull, just across the bay. Our smoked salmon comes from Inverawe, one of the best salmon smokeries in the country, and any other salmon we use comes straight from Loch Creran.
We also use only authentic, certified importers for ingredients which need to come from the continent.
